The US Department of Justice is joining a lawsuit against Lance Armstrong.
The lawsuit, to recoup 30 million dollars paid to Armstrong by the US Postal service, will cost the taxpayers in two ways. The obvious cost is the financial burden, the other cost is the lost opportunities to prosecute or dely the prosecution of other criminals.
The government believes they are justified because of his confession of doping. However, the Postal Service's own studies show that the Service benefited tremendously from its sponsorship -- benefits totaling more than $100 million. This fact sheds some doubt on the governments ability to recoup the 30 million.
This lawsuit is a waste of time and money. This lawsuit does nothing to protect or help the citizens of the US.
