In 1996 Congress mandated the US to practically give away the US reserve of helium. This drove the price of helium much lower than it would should be. This gas is important in medical applications like MRIs and in scientific applications. If the supply continues to be sold at rock-bottom prices for frivolous uses like party balloons, the earth will soon run out of this important gas. Please act now to protect the supply! Or, the last of our helium may soon float away.
