The Thrift Savings Plan is a 401(k)-style program for federal employees and military personnel. The G fund, one of the TSP’s funds, invests in interest bearing, "safe" short-term Treasury securities. The fund matures and is reinvested daily.
Under 5 U.S.C. 8438(h)(2), when the US Government reaches its debt ceiling it can borrow from the G fund to keep operating without passing the approaching debt limit. By law, the G Fund will be made whole once the debt limit is increased.
In light of runaway government spending, I am petitioning the US Government to change the law and prevent the US Government from borrowing from the G Fund to pay its bills.
