The electoral college was created back when the only means of votes arriving to D.C. was by horseback. If a horseman didn't arrive, the state representative would vote on the behalf of the missing votes in that state. It worked well then, but in the modern era where messages travel at the speed of light through the internet, the electoral college is utterly useless, as everyone's vote can now be included. The electoral college allows representatives to vote for who they wish, rather than who the state ultimately agreed with. Is this freedom?
