Stop using taxpayer dollars to have portraits painted of outgoing cabinet secretaries.

Created by D.H. on March 07, 2013

We, the petitioners, ask for an immediate end to the practice of commissioning oil paintings (or any other tributes) of cabinet secretaries and other similar federal employees and/or appointees.

In the past two years alone, the Obama administration has spent nearly $400,000 on oil paintings of outgoing cabinet secretaries. The Bush administration spent just as much.

This is not a partisan problem, it's just a problem... a foolish tradition that continues long after it's needed.

Sure, it's not a lot of money when we're talking about trillion dollar deficits, but there are likely thousands of line items in the budget just like this and each one of them must be stomped out.
