In a move that singled-out one of the few profitable sectors of public infrastructure - the USPS - by forcing it to prefund retired postal worker benefits, this critical service is now in jeopardy of being dissolved and handed over to the private sector.
This is intolerable. On one hand, the USPS is crippled with debt, and on the other, it is not given the means to eliminate it, with restrictions on services the USPS can provide.
n order to make this burden fair, the government should require all retirement benefits for every sector be paid in advance instead of pay-as-you-go, including Social Security.
This is tantamount to citizens paying income taxes on all their future earnings, which is patently absurd.
