As a gun owner, I cannot deny the systematic failure of our current laws to control the every growing epidemic of gun violence.
I am advocating a four step approach to better gun laws.
1. No questions asked buy back program for existing guns. Voluntary, fair market value, no criminal prosecution or investigation of the person.
2. Universal background checks for every gun purchase anywhere. Fund local firearms dealers to run this program and charge a fee for transfers or purchases to recover costs.
3. Make it a felony to sell a firearm person to person or without going through a dealer.
4. Set up a ratings system with mental health officials to report online any person that could be a risk for purchasing a firearm.
