Every time President Obama visits Chicago, the city shuts down. Commuters and residents face huge delays, especially on public transit. This has become a regular and disruptive occurrence.
Mr. President, your city supports you, and we are proud to have Chicagoans in the White House. We understand that Chicago is home and that you need time to escape and recharge. But every time you come here for a steak dinner, you do so at the expense of millions of your neighbors. Being President means giving up some of the personal touches of your old life.
We understand that political events bring you here, as anywhere; that's fine. And we will love to have you back in 2017, or if you can come here without shutting down the city. But until then, we respectfully ask you to stay away.
Love,
Chicago
