Wild horses, thoroughbreds, quarter horses, milk mare foals, and all others are in danger of being transported for slaughter or being slaughtered in the U.S. if slaughter houses are open. The horse meat is toxic and unsafe for human consumption as stated by the Veterinarians for Equine Welfare. The cost of holding pens for wild horses and the roundups is over 1 billion dollars per year. The tax revenue that will be spent for clean up of blood vats and damage to water tables will be huge, as these slaughter houses can kill about 1 horse per minute. The cost to inspect these facilities by the USDA will be from tax dollars, under FDA regulations the horse meat is unsafe to consume.Drugs (such as phenylbutazone) can not be removed from the meat.Selling to other countries makes US liable for injuries.
