Stop wireless providers from mandating the purchase of data plans in conjunction with smart phone devices.

Created by M.A. on December 23, 2012

The federal government must prevent wireless service providers from forcing customers to subscribe to services they don't need. Currently, anybody in the US who is interested in purchasing a smart phone to use with their wireless service is forced to subscribe to a data plan costing around $30/month; the consolidated state of the wireless service industry has lead to gross exploitation of the consumer. The fact that smart phones have the capability to use data should not be cause for providers to force customers to subscribe to data plans in order to use these phones. It's akin to forcing those buying internet-capable TVs to purchase internet service for their devices. Wireless providers must release their stranglehold and allow customers the freedom of choice.
