Stop the Wisconsin government from allowing a Florida company to build an open-pit mine in northern Wisconsin

Created by K.W. on March 09, 2013

The Wisconsin assembly approved a mining bill that will allow a Florida company to build a massive open-pit iron ore mine in northern Wisconsin, just south of Lake Superior and right next to the Bad River reservation. If this mine is built, it will pollute the surrounding rivers and wetlands that empty into Lake Superior. The machines required will pollute the air. It will destroy miles of valuable forests that cannot be restored to their original state after they are done mining. It will invade the Bad River reservation territory, which is sacred to its members. Jobs can be created in more environmentally sustainable ways!
