Drilling for oil in the Arctic could be end up becoming a environmental and catastrophic nightmare. We should learn our lessons from Deepwater Horizon: loss of human life, marine, avian and plant life; loss of the fishing and shellfish industries and most recently the mass die off the the bottlenose dolphin, just to touch the surface. The clean up will last for decades if not a century. The frigid, hostile environment of the Arctic is no place to gamble with drilling where the delicate balance of nature is so pivotal. The profit-driven multinational oil companies can never undo an oil spill. Why should we ever consider giving them the chance?
