As of right now, veterans that are 100% service connected disabled and listed as unemployable, as determined by the Veterans Affairs, must also file and fight separately, to be recognized by Social Security, as being 100% disabled to receive benefits. This process can be cumbersome and take years, and often Social Security does not recognize the decision made by the VA. The SSA should accept the VA's decision of granting veterans 100% disability, and should also grant them SSDI, without the veteran having to submit additional evidence, as well as attend hearings to try to prove that they are disabled and unable to work. The process as it stands, oftentimes means that the veteran must hire a lawyer and wait years to receive SSDI, if at all.
