This petition is for the simple goal of speeding up and streamlining the application and approval process for Social Security Disability. As of right now it can take well over a year and a half to get approval from Social Security Disability from the date that you apply. For American Citizens who have worked their entire lives and can no longer work because of their health, waiting so long to get assistance from a program that they have paid into is unacceptable. Also in many other cases people need a much more expedient resolution to their SSDI application so that they can get medical attention and training to do a different job with their disability. Why is it that people from other countries get immediate government assistance, but when a U.S. citizen needs help it takes years?
