Recent news about the desire of congress to cut military numbers and benefits is disgusting. We already have too few active duty combat troops to properly and humanely spread combat tours. Military benefits have been cut many times before and are projected to be cut again. In a country with a voluntary military that is less than 1% of the population defending the rest, our men and women of the military should receive much better treatment and enhanced benefits, especially so since 75% of the youth ages 18 to 25 are unfit for military duty. It is shameful for America's wounded and disabled veterans have to be helped by charities. Our military people deserve better, not less, not worse. Our government--especially our congress--must recognize the value of putting one's life on the line.
