We need to have a better system in place for punishing drinking and driving offenders. We currently see lawyers defending these crimes, getting the offender a plea, allowing them to once again put innocent people at risk. This kind of injustice must be stopped before more people fall victim to a drunk driver who is a repeat offender. We must stop lawyers from buying time in the court system and allowing these offenders to be free for years while their cases are postponed again and again. The laws should be clear, if you have committed the offense then the punishment should be swift and carried out. Let's stop pleas for drinking and driving, and let's get them through the courts and locked up quickly so no other innocent family suffers.
