Strengthen our infrastructure, overhaul our obsolete electric system, and hold utility companies responsible!

Created by J.S. on December 13, 2012

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we have unfortunately seen how unprepared and behind the times we really are. Because of our obsolete 20th century electrical system, many people were without power for days and weeks at a time. Meanwhile, the utility companies were slow to respond because of this same aging infrastructure. Substations were located near water and subsequently flooded, making them offline for days.

We urge the United States Government to not let another Sandy happen again.

We want them to rebuild from the ground up. Make it stronger and more current with the times. Put our wires underground instead of in the air on wooden utility poles. Move substations to higher ground. Put digital meters in every home so they can see exactly which homes are out and need restoration fast.
