We need to strengthen the Posse Comitatus laws. these are laws originally passed over 100 yrs ago to forbid the use of military personnel to enforce civilian law except in case of dire emergency. This would include banning the use of assault weapons, chemical weapons, armored vehicles, and other weapons designed for military use. The law shoul also ban the use of SWAT units unless there was an immeadiate threat to life of uninvolved persons.
