Mr. President, we respectfully request that you mandate stronger security for our schools in the wake of recent attacks. You said there are things that we can do right now to protect our children. Providing better security for our children has to be at the top of your list. In our society, it has become necessary to install metal detectors at school entrances and have armed security or police officers operating the metal scanners to ensure that weapons do not make it on to campuses in the future. Laws that prevent people from having or carrying guns on school property are already in place, but have failed to deter bloodshed of our innocent children. We must go a step further like we do at airports and court houses to ensure the safety of our most precious human resources - our children.
