Stricter Gun Control

There should be a federal law that requires strict background checks on anyone who wishes to purchase a gun and a minimum 7 day waiting period before the gun can be received. In the past years mass shootings have become increasingly frequent, especially in schools. In order to decrease the deaths caused by armed assailants, mental health checks and criminal background checks need to be implemented. Any person who wishes to own a gun with a criminal record or mental health problems will be denied the right to own firearms. On top of that there should be a waiting period of at least 7 days before owner can take possession of the gun. Some states already have require background checks of prospecting gun owners but in order to keep all American citizens safe this law needs to be nation wide.
