Since 9/11 police officers have killed 5,000 civilians on U.S soil. Last year in the U.S all but 30 officers were fatally shot on the job, while 2 of them being fatally stabbed. That equates to 448-700 deaths since 9/11. This statistic is eye opening, there needs to be change. We have rules of engagement for our service men fighting the scourge of the earth, but for American civilians and residents we get nothing more then a cops intuition. To put it simply, if an officer in anyway feels threatened, your life is worth less then his, this needs to stop.
Police agencies need to train their officers to incapacitate before using deadly force, a shot to the leg, a blast of the taser, or a good ole fashion Baton. Deadly force should be the last resort. Please help us trust the police.
