strike down laws designed to prevent abortion access just as the VRA struck down laws designed to deny voters rights.

Created by T.R. on January 27, 2013

Mississippi is poised to become the first State where legal abortions are impossible to obtain when the last abortion clinic in the State closes due to the passage of several onerous laws designed to close clinics that provide abortions. Arkansas, North Dakota and South Dakota each have only one clinic left where women can obtain legal abortions. Those seeking & providing abortions are targets for harassment, threats, even violence. Regulations target providers, women are subjected to medically unnecessary ultrasounds, forced to undergo mandatory counseling and told outright lies. The VRA struck down laws designed to prevent people from exercising their voting rights. The National Guard was used to enforce desegregation of public schools. Abortion rights should have similar protection.
