Across the United States, remnants of the Confederate States remain in public view as street names, statues, flags and other symbolism. The Confederate Army was lost the Civil War and their ideology is offensive to what America is. Why should children of many cultures play beneath the shadow of a figure who didn't view them as people with rights in public spaces? The place for historical remnants should be rightfully placed in museums as not to forget history, but it is ridiculous to display the images of enemy combatants in public space or to drive on roads aptly named for those people. Just as the Statue of Saddam Hussein was removed in Baghdad in Firdos Square, Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Braxton Bragg etc removal is long overdue. May their ideology and racism perish.
