The 'Presidential Medal of Freedom' is the highest award a civilian can receive.
President Kennedy re-interpreted and re-established President Truman's 'Medal of Freedom' in 1960 as the 'Presidential Medal of Freedom,' for which he significantly broadened its meriting criteria to not only include "meritorious contributions" made by international war heroes, but also the "meritorious contributions" made by its prospective recipients to "world peace, or cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."
With dozens of Mr. Cosby's alleged victims having recalled nearly a half-century of his abuses, it would only be appropriate to strip Mr. Cosby of his medal considering his unforgivable pattern of behavior will deny the award of its highest esteem.
