A trend has recently come to light of CEOs sending out mass communications to their employees that seem to threaten reprisals if employees do not vote in accordance with the CEO's wishes. From Mitt Romney encouraging CEOs to talk to their employees about 'what would be best' for them, the Koch brother's affiliate corporations sending out a 'political packet' to 45,000 employees, and David Seigel's slightly modified chain letter sent to his employees, there is a clear trend that, if not strictly illegal, should be condemned as tantamount to voter intimidation. In a period of low unemployment, this method would be less likely to work, but because of high unemployment, communications like this are particularly damaging as employees are rightly concerned about their future employment.
