Strongly encourage all states across the U.S. who have not already done so to pass laws banning texting while driving.

Created by A.M. on June 16, 2014

This petition beseeches the Obama administration to strongly encourage all states to create an offense for the utilization of a handheld wireless communication device for use of text-based communication while operating a motor vehicle. Texting while driving kills an average of 3,000 teen drivers a year, 11% more than the number killed driving under the influence of alcohol. Texting while driving increases the chances of getting into an accident by 23 times, and 100,000 people are taking thus risk at any given daylight moment. This issue particularly affects our nation's youth, of which 50% admit their guilt. If you believe in protecting hardworking Americans and the future of our nation, sign this petition and help end the irresponsible behavior that plagues our drivers.
