On the heels of some success regarding student loan repayment rights, I urge my fellow citizens to stand up and demand fairness in how our private student loans are also handled.
"In 2005, the banks blindsided consumers by lobbying for legislation which changed bankruptcy law in a terrible way for student loan borrowers. Specifically, as of 2005, private student loans are no longer dischargeable through bankruptcy."
What's more is that there is no statute of limitations on student loan debt. In a country that allows rapists and theives to walk, free from persecution, due to a "statute of limitations," why are innocent students who can't find jobs not shown the same grace?
The government bailed out Wall Street, now it's time to bail out students. Please sign and spread it. CHANGE: NOW!
