submit a Bill for Congressional pay to be based on the average American Salary from the previous year.

Created by T.R. on February 08, 2013

All Congressional members pay, regardless if Majority/Minority Leader/Speaker, would receive salary equal to median salary of average American taxpayer as reported per IRS for previous year. An increase or decrease of median salary for average American taxpayer would result in an equal increase or decrease.
An example of benefits of this plan:
435 in house of Rep.-3 Majority/minority leader/Speaker 432x$174,00=$75,168,000
200 in Senate-2 for Majority/minority leader 198x$174,000=$34,452,000
$223,500 Speaker=$223,500
minority/majority leaders 4x$194,000=$776,000
Total cost of current members salary PER YEAR=$1,106,195,000
If all 635 were paid $50,054, total cost of current members salary for 2012 would be $31,784,290
Saving federal government $1,074,410,710.
