The federal income tax code is extremely complex and nearly impossible for non-tax preparers to understand. This puts small business owners who cannot afford tax avoidance advice at a disadvantage. It also puts all Americans at risk as all tax returns require the subject sign them as truthful under penalty of perjury. A progressive tax with deductions and loopholes and exemptions for the politically connected is ridiculous. Forcing congress and the senate to complete their own returns without help and face an audit afterward will subject them to a necessary level of stress to empathize with the rest of America. Not to mention, it will make fantastic TV.
