Submit to Congress and actively campaign for a Constitutional amendment prohibiting federal and state gerrymandering.

The current era of hyper-partisan politics threatens our prosperity and our future as a thriving republic capable of effective self-governance. Congressional districts have been carved out in niches to ensure the best chance of success for incumbent representatives and/or the incumbent's party for future elections. These districts increasingly have no logical geographical or community-based boundaries. This has resulted in elected officials' unbridled catering to the base of their party at the expense of governing in the public interest, lest they lose to a more fundamentalist candidate in a primary election. This petition urges the President to campaign for a Constitutional amendment prohibiting gerrymandering of Congressional districts, in order to ensure truly representative government.
