All members of congress will be limited to twelve years of total service in the congress as an elected official. This limitation is applied to both houses of congress cumulatively regardless of prior service. If a member has already served more than 12 years or another term will cause them to exceed the 12 year limit they will be ineligible to run for another term in either house of congress.
