submit a declaration of war to Congress for approval prior to committing any military forces to action in Syria.

Created by J.F. on August 29, 2013

Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution provides the Congress the power to declare war. While reasonable interpretations of the war powers of the Commander-in-Chief have allowed for the President to act even without a resolution from Congress, a full and fair debate of the costs, interests, and potential harm of military action against Syria should be allowed.

Please sign this petition to urge the President to work with Congress to craft a resolution to declare war on Syria and let the American people benefit from a complete airing of the issues that would occur if we do commit our blood and treasure to the conflict there.
