Submit legislation to the Congress to make "America the Beautiful" the national anthem of the United States.

Created by G.P. on February 10, 2013

The current anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner", commemorates only our nation's military prowess. However, "America the Beautiful" celebrates so many more of our country's blessings. It is a song of joy and hope.

Furthermore, "America the Beautiful" is much easier for the average person to sing, as opposed to the present anthem, which has an unusually wide range of notes, and has a lyrical structure which often leads to mistakes from performers.

Until the adoption of "The Star Spangled Banner" by Congress in 1931, it was often interchanged with "America the Beautiful" as the de facto national anthem of the U.S. It is our contention that Congress in that year chose the wrong song, and that mistake ought to be rectified now.
