The Commission on Presidential Debates is a private corporation that claims to be nonpartisan, but which is in reality is controlled by the Democratic and Republican parties (just look at the current membership of the commission). Control of the debates needs to be in the hands of a truly nonpartisan organization, primarily because we have more than just two political parties in this country; the debates should not be under the control of just the two "mainstream" parties, who are obviously biased in favor of their two candidates. This is just one example of the way the US election process is rigged. We are calling on the President to introduce and support legislation to permanently return control of the debates to the League of Women Voters.
