Subsidize the production of biodiesel from the Cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803.

Created by M.T. on October 26, 2011

This is a petition for the production of biodiesel from the Cyanobacterium Synechocystis Spp. 6803. Biodiesel can be run in existing diesel engines without the development of new technology. Biodiesel is made through the utilization of three ingredients: a vegetable oil or fat, methanol, and sodium hydroxide. The limiting feature of biodiesel production has been an inexpensive source of vegetable oil. I firmly believe that this source oil can be derived from bacteria, Cyanobacteria Synechocystis because of 1) a favorable stoichiometry - there are an average of seven lipid bilayers per cell - 60 percent by mass, 2) it grows exponentially with a doubling time of one hour, 3) ts a photosynthetic organism deriving all of its cell building blocks from carbon dioxide and sunlight. plus more....
