SUBSIDIZE PUBLIC TRANSPORT AS A MEANS OF ECONOMIC STIMULUS.

Created by V.H. on November 21, 2012

Many metropolitan transit authorities are significantly raising fares in the next year. This action will have a negative impact on the regional economies; taking money out of the hands of a significant portion of citizens. This increase will affect the working poor most significantly but negatively affects the entire economy. Ironically this increase penalizes the use of public transport while we are still rebuilding the east coast . Today we petition the White House to focus on a new Stimulus Package to fully fund the public transportation systems of the country for the coming year. This single act would jumpstart the economy by putting every dollar not individually spent on transportation back into the local economies & provide a reprieve for the working poor.
