Successful Negotiation with the Republicans

Created by P.B. on December 27, 2012

In dealing with the Fiscal Cliff the President should read Herb Cohen’s book entitled “You Can Negotiate Anything”. He should remember that the opposition is more knowledgeable about him & his needs than he does about them. They are'nt under the same kind of fiscal/administrative pressure, time constraints and restrictive deadlines. The opposition always seems to have more power and authority than him. The President should identify the non-negotiable items like Social Security, no tax break above 250k, etc. Unfortunately, the President has already (yes, stupidly) raised the ceiling to 400k so the opposition is vetting for $1million limit. His negotiation portfolio should have included lots of less important items, some of which he could give up as part of negotiatio. Don't blink first
