Suicide Prevention

Created by J.T. on January 02, 2017

Suicide is a horrible and heart wrenching thing. It can have a lasting impact on family members and friends. In 2014 suicide was the SECOND leading cause of death among youth. More teenagers and adults die from suicide rather than cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED. Each year 44,193 Americans commit suicide, on average there are 121 suicides per day. And over the past 10 years, suicide rates have been increasing. This petition is to advocate for cameras, emergency hotlines, and patrols stationed throughout every bridge in America. With these precautions in place, we could limit the amount of suicides every year and hopefully give the victims another chance at life. I was inspired by the Seoul's Suicide Rescue Team.
