Our country needs a national electoral system that supports equal voting power for all — "one man, one vote." The current electoral system deprives citizens in higher population areas of from having voting power equal to that of citizens in less populated areas.
A nationwide popular vote would help to keep candidates focused on the needs of all citizens, regardless of political party. It would reduce the power of special interests. It would help to insure that outcomes are less vulnerable to skewed partisan political ploys, gerrymandering and lobbying.
It would help to even the playing field for nominees.
