I thank you very much for taking some moments to review this petition regarding Alabama’s newly enacted immigration bill. I am writing you to enlist your support for HB 56 as the federal government has not done enough to pursue illegal immigrants in the country. We as Americans cannot sit idle while our great nation grows more divided by those who deem to subvert our nation’s laws, language, and heritage. Illegal immigration segregates our nation -not integrates it. As the Honorable President Roosevelt said, “If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn’t doing his part as an American.." (Chicago Daily Tribune, January 7, 1919) and that, Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. (The Washington, October 13, 1915.
