The U.S. is one of the only industrialized nations in the world without paid leave for new parents. The United States falls behind Japan, the UK, Turkey, Switzerland, India, Saudi Arabia, among many others.
Paid, substantial, job-protected parental leave needs to be available to all new parents. The time & ability to take care of our family should not be reserved for the wealthy. Parents should not have to choose between losing their jobs or compromising their finances and creating a family. Investing in families is investing in the future of our country, & supporting working class families supports our economy & helps attrition rates of women in the workforce.
We deserve to hear from the White House not just a placative statement, but a solid action plan with the support of congress.
