Support amending The Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include sexual orientation and identity as a protected class

Created by W.K. on January 18, 2013

A petition requesting that the administration support amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes in terms of discrimination, particularly in terms of employment. Currently there is no federal law that protects an individual from an adverse employment action incurred solely on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity. A prohibition on such actions is necessary and consistent with the purposes of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
