Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) gave his first speech to the Senate and, withinone minute, while discussing US foreign policy, he compared certain foreign governments to that of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.
"Godwin's Law" states that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1." A frequently invoked corollary of this law is that whenever a comparison involving the Nazis or Hitler occurs, the debate ends and whichever side made the comparison automatically loses the debate.
I propose that this corollary of Godwin's law be applied to Congress by way of a Constitutional Amendment and that any Congressperson or Senator who makes such a comparison is disallowed from voting on whatever issue they make the comparison about.
