Support an amendment to the Constitution that prohibits members of congress from giving themselves pay raises.

Mr. President, it is written in the Constitution that members of Congress may vote for their own pay raises. Seeing that the government is in financial distress and many of these legislators are already wealthy, it seems inane to allow them to continue to give themselves pay raises, when the entire country is getting a pay cut. I propose that you support an amendment to the Constitution that allows the pay raises of individual legislators to be determined by a voter referendum in the states they are from, rather than continuing to allow them to give themselves pay raises.
