Mr. Obama, for the first time in many decades, educated parents who want work are unable to find paying jobs that allow them to support households. Many communities are unable to provide public housing and assistance that would prevent homelessness. The TANF benefit level is not enough to allow parents to provide housing for their children during this transitional period. Many, graduating students, those who were self employed, those who have worked for non-profits, were not eligible for unemployment and have come to the safety net in an effort to preserve their family. Homelessness is a barrier to employment alone. Please address the disparity between the TANF benefit level and the financial need of families without other resources. Please increase this limit to prevent homeless families.
