support American mothers by mandating PAID maternity leave from all employers.

Created by T.B. on August 20, 2013

The United States is one of 8 countries in the world to not have a government-mandated policy of paid maternity leave for ALL working mothers. This is unacceptable. The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 was an important first step, but since then this issue has been neglected. Too many working class mothers cannot afford unpaid leave. Mandating employers to provide paid maternity leave is a moral obligation, and will create jobs when employers must hire new workers to provide a cushion when mothers take their leave. Maybe we can't force companies to pay a living wage, but they should be made to treat their employees like human beings, with dignity.
