The United States has many great summer traditions, especially 4th of July fireworks with music accompaniment.
As the grand finale begins, the fireworks quicken, becoming brighter by the second. The music crescendos and accelerates. BOOM!!! Cannons blast out of nowhere! The sky is a blinding rainbow of explosions. One last shot from the cannons signals the end.
The score for this incredibly American event was brought to you by Russia.
The 1812 Overture was written by Tchaikovsky, a Russian, about the French invasion of Russia, NOT the US War of 1812 as many Americans believe.
We need a work written by an American composer that includes cannons and fireworks at its climax for performance at our patriotic occasions.
Ask the White House to commission American music for our fireworks!!
