In order for change to truly take place in our country, our government must continually be updated with new ideas, goals, and members.
Being a member of Congress has become a luxury, a guarantee of a high salary and benefits. Those who are in, do not want to leave. Those who want in, must fight big-money advertising and backers. Priorities become blurred with re-election desires. Strong ties are built with contributors and lobbyists. Attendance and productivity are poor.
A two-term limit would help ensure no congressman or woman focus on anything but doing what is right for their constituents and country.
A term limit would encourage those truly seeking change to come into politics. It would say to those who seek a career and comfortable office, "goodbye".
