In recent years, states have effected a nationwide "Fire Standards Compliance" (FSC) law on cigarettes. These laws force tobacco companies to alter their cigarette products by adding to cigarette wrappers, chemical flame-retardants which have not been adequately tested for human health impacts by inhalation or for environmental impacts.
Inhaling burnt tobacco is known to cause health risks, even in tobacco's purest form. This makes such practice by state lawmakers unconscionable: effectively mandating that a known addictive product, such as tobacco, must be consumed with substances that have unknown health and environmental impacts.
We the People, smokers and non-smokers, implore that said practices be banned. Legislate that consumable tobacco be free from any chemical alteration.
