Support and provide a comprehensive system for background checks for private sales of firearms.

Created by J.P. on January 14, 2013

The administration should provide and support a system for the average citizen to complete a comprehensive background check for all sales of firearms that do not occur through a recognized FFL Dealer.

An integration of mental health records should be part of this system. Mental health issues have been acknowledged as a major reason for the occurrence of shooting tragedies. Recent examples include, but are not limited to, the Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook shootings.

A simple pass or fail result is all that is necessary to protect an individuals privacy and accomplish the purpose of the background check.

Private sales of firearms help people pay the mortgage and keep the lights on sometimes when times are tough. Law abiding citizens should be able to do so responsibly.
